My speech in Parliament about the upgrades to the Tullamarine Men's Shed - 22 July 2019

I congratulated the Tullamarine Men’s Shed in my electorate of Calwell, on the opening of their new and upgraded facilities, which are vital in my electorate in Parliament.

The Shed received funding from multiple partnerships, so I want to thank Hume City Council, Josh Bull the State MP for Sunbury with the Victorian Labor Government, and the Federal Government for making this long-sought upgrade possible.

The Tullamarine Men’s Shed provides is a hub for local men to share ideas and skills with each other, to build and contribute community-related projects. The Men’s Shed is also vital for bringing men together, who may have experienced difficult circumstances, to engage socially in a safe space. The now upgraded Men’s Shed, offers improved rooms and facilities to ensure all members can make use of the space for project work and social gatherings. It is fantastic to see this opening as a benchmark for stronger community cohesion for years to come.

I want to thank Cheryl Hilderbrandt, Manager of the Tullamarine Community House and Men’s Shed, Robert Stephenson, President of the Men’s Shed Advisory Group, and their team, for the hard work in ensuring the Tullamarine Men’s Shed receives these essential upgrades for the local community.
