I moved a motion in Parliament acknowledging the progress made toward peace and reunification in Cyprus. I also congratulated Yalcin Adal and Stavros Protz (Tzortzis) with their grass-work action.
These friends undertook a 16 day journey, walking 360 km from East to West Cyprus, raising awareness of the ongoing seperation of Cyprus, and as a gesture of hope, reconcilitation and reunification. I would also like to thank Senator Patrick Dodson, Linda Burney MP, Steve Georganas MP - Federal Member for Hindmarsh, Anthony Albanese MP, and the Australian High Commissioner for Cyprus, Mr Alan Sweetman.
I call on the Australian Government to support an enduring, peaceful and comphrehensive settlement in Cyrpus.
