I'm excited to announce two new youth projects being initiated in the Calwell electorate that are open to local 16 - 25 year olds. The first is Calwell Youth, an online publication platform for young people to write articles, and the second is a committee position on the 2019 Calwell Youth Committee. More information about these projects can be found below for those interested, with article submissions for Calwell Youth and expression of interests for the Youth Committee now open.
Calwell Youth is an online publication platform aimed at sharing youth experiences, through articles and pieces written by our young people. This project is about connecting youth in Calwell, and will allow young people the opportunity to publish their own articles and work on a contemporary platform. The requirements for the articles include:
- A topic involving a local youth event, youth group and activities, piece from local creative workshops, achievement or youth award
- between 200 - 500 words
- an author's name
- Captioned photos with the article are welcome

Another youth project in 2019 is the Calwell Youth Committee. A position on this committee will involve meeting on a monthly basis to share youth experiences and events with myself and other committee members, and to talk about local youth issues to ensure the government actively responds.
This is an excellent leadership experience and opportunity to be involved with the political process. To join the Calwell Youth Committee, applicants must be involved in an activity such as community/cultural groups, sports, arts, extra curricular school activities, leadership roles or more.
