Frontline health services in Coolaroo will be expanded, with a local clinic executing an agreement to receive a $500,000 funding boost from the Federal  Government.
Federal Member for Calwell Maria Vamvakinou said the grant given to the  Coolaroo Clinic Services would make it easier for patients to see their doctor closer to home. “This grant will enable the clinic to provide:  eight additional consulting rooms; an extra waiting room; a new multipurpose room; an additional nurses room and 39 extra car spaces. “We want patients to access health care when they need it, where they need it,” Ms Vamvakinou said.
The extension will increase the physical and staff resources available to the community in order to offer a full range of services required for patients with a range of chronic disease and complex needs. Minister for Health Tanya Plibersek also noted that it was Liberal Party policy to oppose these grants at the 2010 election. "While we all know health cuts are in the Liberal Party DNA, Tony Abbott's opposition to these grass roots improvements to local health services beggars belief,” Ms Plibersek said.
