To mark the beginning of National Youth Week (14-22 April), Federal Member for Calwell, Maria Vamvakinou MP, this week distributed copies of Your Future - Information Kit for School Leavers to all secondary schools in her electorate.
“National Youth Week celebrates the many contributions made by young people in Australia” Ms Vamvakinou said.
“It is also an opportunity for the local community here to show its support for young people living in Calwell.”
“Young people face many challenges when they leave high school. They have to make important decisions about their future. To help young people living in Calwell, I have released a School Leavers Information Kit which is designed to help them make important decisions about university and TAFE” Ms Vamvakinou said.
“The kit also offers advice on money, getting a job, their rights at work, health and other key issues that affect many young people living in our local area” Ms Vamvakinou said.
“The School Leavers Kit will help encourage young people in the local area to recognize their own potential, and to maximize the different options available to them.”
“It is also about helping them find their way in the broader community once they leave school” Ms Vamvakinou said.
“Supporting Calwell’s young people is about supporting a better future for all local people, young and old.”
“John Howard has dropped the ball on issues like climate change, job security, and access to education and training” Ms Vamvakinou said.
“In contrast, a Federal Labor Government will deliver an education revolution and fairer workplaces. It will tackle climate change head-on and deliver a national broadband network which delivers broadband speeds 40 times faster so Australia isn't left behind.”
