Maria Vamvakinou is the Federal Labor Member for Calwell and is the first Greek born woman to serve in Australia's federal parliament.

Maria is Deputy Chair of the Joint Standing Committee on Migration and along with several other committees, is a member of the Joint Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade.

Maria is a strong advocate of our local and vibrant manufacturing industry and was the former Chair of the Industry, Science and Innovation Committee.

In representing our community in the Federal Parliament, Maria is passionate about supporting local businesses and ensuring our community has access to proper training and the opportunities for good, sustainable jobs.

This includes holding the Government to account in properly funding vital vocational education and training, and a restoration of apprenticeships as a means to real skills and employment.

Maria continues to advocate strongly for our area and to building a stronger, more secure future.
