2016 Refugee Week Celebrations in Hume

You have been invited to an International Women's Day morning tea hosted by Maria Vamvakinou MP.

"Maria Vamvakinou's experience of migration in the 1960s had a profound impact on her life, inspiring a passion for cultural diversity that remains a driving force in her political career."

Come along to a poetry reading of the only contemporary Australian / Turkish book pf poems on the war "This Intimate War: Gallipoli / Canakkale 1915" on Wednesday 15 March.

I attended morning teas in my electorate hosted by the Broadmeadows Shopping Centre, Dallas Neighbourhood House and Bright Beginnings Family Day Care. It's wonderful when the community gets together for a great cause to raise funds for the Cancer Council.

I attended the Milli Gorus Sareera Youth and ICMG Youth's 7th annual Street Iftar at the Meadow Heights Mosque. It was a wonderful event hosted by the Sareera Youth, a young women's group at the Mosque. It was such a treat to be invited by the community to share in the breaking of the fast with delicious food. Well done to all that made this spectacular event possible especially to those who turned the mosque into a Turkish bazaar!

The Federal Volunteer Grants Program was re-established on Thursday, 29 October 2015.

The purpose of the program is to recognise the valuable role of volunteers and to encourage volunteering in the local community. As you know, volunteers participate in a diverse range of activities, including helping at local sporting events, fundraising, or assisting after an emergency or natural disaster.
