Maria Vamvakinou , Federal Member for Calwell today visited Roxburgh Park College to celebrate the electorate’s windfall of securing two trades training centres.
About $5million will be spent in total, with $4.4 million going to the Craigieburn Trade Training Centre in Roxburgh Park – which will benefit Roxburgh College plus Craigieburn Secondary College; Gladstone Park Secondary College and Mount Ridley P-12 College.
Up to $1.2 million will also go towards the Penola Catholic College Trade Training Centre in Broadmeadows.
Both centres will work with businesses and the employment sector to deliver qualifications in automotive, electro-technology, engineering, furnishing and hospitality. The aim is to address skills shortages in the trades of cabinetmaker, cook, motor mechanics (general), sheet metal trades worker and telecommunications technicians.
Great news all round for locals involved in this sector! At the college with Maria Vamvakinou MP are Rob Mitchell MP from the neighbouring McEwen electorate, and principals from each of the cluster participating schools, namely Lino Pagano, Principal Mount Ridley P-12 College, Julie Robertson, Principal Craigieburn Secondary College, Lynne Gutterson, Principal Gladstone Park Secondary College, and Fernando Ianni.
