Medicare and Centrelink services will be available from a one-stop shop in Airport West at the end of this month, Federal Member for Calwell Maria Vamvakinou announced. The Airport West Medicare branch will move into the Centrelink service centre at Westfield Shopping Centre, allowing local residents to access both services from the same shop.“We realise that people’s needs have changed, and their time is valuable,” Ms Vamvakinou said. “Being able to access these important government services in the one place at the one time will make things more convenient for everyone.”“Co-locating services is about improving the way people deal with the Australian Government by providing convenient, easy-to-access, coordinated services from a single point of contact.“Another exciting development which will be available at this site is the new credit EFTPOS payment option – people simply swipe their debit card to have their Medicare benefits deposited into their bank accounts immediately.”Ms Vamvakinou said that anyone who visits the one-stop shop will be able to access a broad range of services, from applying for Medicare rebates, to accessing specialised Centrelink services, all in one convenient location.
