Federal Member for Calwell  Maria Vamvakinou  today congratulated 3  local educators  who have been awarded $5000  each as  part of a Australian Government Scholarship for Career Advisers.
Ferah Kevser Gunduz, George Georgostathis and Kate Crowhurst are the career advisers at Isik College, Gladstone Park Secondary College and Hume Central Secondary College respectively. The three are currently guiding students in taking the major step from school to further education or employment. The career advisors are part of 85 people offered a Study Scholarship in 2012. This scholarship provides each career adviser with $5000 to assist in postgraduate level studies to upgrade their qualifications.
Ms Vamvakinou said: “This is an exceptional opportunity for the career advisors to enhance their  career advisory skills and knowledge, and to in turn assist students at their respective schools.”
“The scholarships are part of the Australian Government’s commitment to help young people make informed career choices and successful transitions from school to further education or training and work.
“Through the Scholarships we are helping to improve the quality of career education and advice in Australian schools, TAFE and universities.”
