Applications for the 2020 Commemorative Grants Program have opened. This round of grants will benefit from a funding boost and expanded eligibility of the Saluting Their Service (STS) Program.
Minister for Veterans and Defence Personnel, Darren Chester and Federal Member for Calwell Maria Vamvakinou said the expansion to the STS Grants Program will see an extra $10 million allocated over the next four years to continue to honour those who have served their country.
“The STS Grants Program is aimed at acknowledging and commemorating those who served Australia and its allies in wars, conflicts and peace operations,” Mr Chester said.
Ms Vamvakinou said the funding increase means extra opportunities for local projects in Calwell to commemorate their local military heroes. “I encourage the community here in Calwell to review the new guidelines and apply for a grant to carry on the legacy of commemoration and ensure our veterans are never forgotten” Ms Vamvakinou said.
The revised guidelines will see a shift in focus to conflicts post the First World War, and also mean projects such as documentaries, and digital projects such as digital honour rolls and podcasts, can have funds allocated.
